Professor emeritus A.S. Blix was awarded the prestigious Gunnerus medal

Recently, professor emeritus Arnoldus Schytte Blix was awarded the prestigious Gunnerus medal for his contributions within the fields of zoo-physiology and polar research and for the establishment of our research facility, Avdeling for Arktisk Biologi. The medal is awarded by the «Det Kongelige Norske Videnskabers Selskab» (The Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters) and represents its highest honorary recognition. It is awarded to persons whom have

·       Made excellent scientific contributions within one or several research fields

·       Developed research institutions, in Norway or abroad

·       Made particular contributions to promote science or supported the Societies aims and activities

The medal has previously been awarded to prominent scientists like May-Britt Moser and Edvard Moser, Ivar Giæver, Odd Hassel and Atle Selberg and to Helge Ingstad, but it is 91 years since it was awarded to anyone in Tromsø. Congratulations to Blix for this well-deserved recognition for all his efforts and contributions to bring science forward and to make our research possible!
