Seasonal physiology: making the future a thing of the past




Our colleagues Alex West and Shona Wood have recently authored a paper in Current opinion in physiology’s special issue on circadian rhythms. They review the importance of anticipation of seasonal changes for survival and how photoperiod is used as a cue to time these changes. They discuss history dependence in physiological responses, the modulation of responses by non-photic cues, and, the importance of a species comparative approach.
